One of my summer highlights is going to the Islands Folk Festival held at Providence Farm in the Cowichan Valley. The folk festival has a great selection of musicians, many from Canada but also other parts of the globe. A special emphasis is made to showcase local musicians and emerging musicians with the Island Songwriting Contest a big hit every year. The Islands Folk Festival is put on by the Cowichan Folk Guild and they would be pleased to sell you tickets or put you to work as a volunteer. Check out their brand new web site! This years festival is being held from July 19 – July 21.
I have photographed the event seriously for the past six years and have a great selection of photographs for your viewing pleasure. Shooting live music, especially at night is a challenge that I greatly enjoy. This year marks the 29th anniversary of the festival so I expect it will be the best party yet. I hope to see you there.
